At the Network X 2026 awards, ZTE said it received three prizes: most innovative IP transport solution, outstanding FTTH service, and best home-router AI security solution. For the home side it describes NetSense AI FTTR, which fuses AI Wi-Fi security with Wi-Fi sensing; the gateway carries a 6TOPS NPU and an on-device model that performs microsecond-level DDoS and IoT attack defence at the edge, and uses Wi-Fi sensing, with no camera, for fall detection and child monitoring while keeping raw data inside the home. For networks, ZTE cites an L4 autonomous-network distributed simulation platform that mirrors multi-vendor networks with minute-level synchronisation, claims simulation accuracy above 95% with error below 5%, an efficiency gain of more than 80% and a 90% reduction in major change incidents, under a commit-verify-authorise loop that requires simulation before any change. All performance figures are vendor-reported.

Our take

The engineering claim that matters is placement, not TOPS: keeping attack detection and fall monitoring on the gateway means raw signals never leave the home, which is the only version of home sensing that survives a privacy review. The accuracy and incident-reduction numbers are self-reported and arrive without test methodology, so read them as targets rather than measurements. The unglamorous risk is update and false-positive management on a device no user ever administers.
