Qoder, Alibaba Cloud's coding-agent team, released Qoderian, an open-source plugin listed in Obsidian's community plugin directory. The plugin is built on the MIT-licensed Claudian project and adapted to the Qoder Agent SDK. It brings Qoder CLI, a terminal agent that reads Markdown, analyses directory structure, generates content and invokes skills such as producing an Excalidraw canvas, into a local-first notes vault. Setup needs Qoder CLI plus enabling community plugins; the note currently open is passed into the conversation by default, and users can ask for tasks such as turning an article into a mind map saved in the same folder. The post also demonstrates a clipping workflow: capture pages as Markdown with Obsidian Web Clipper, then instruct the agent to pull core ideas from one folder into another, with an AGENTS.md file fixing the vault's house style.
Our takeLocal-first notes are an unusually good testbed for coding agents: the corpus is plain text, edits are reversible, and the user can diff every change. The design choice that matters is treating the open note as implicit context — it lowers the cost of asking, but also makes scope creep easy when one instruction can rewrite a whole folder. AGENTS.md as a style contract is the right primitive; whether the agent respects file boundaries is the part worth verifying.
