According to Anthropic, it is launching Claude Frontier Academy with a $100 million commitment and a target of training 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers (FDEs) by the end of 2027. The first cohorts include engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley and Novo Nordisk. Anthropic says the first program, the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency, follows a medical-school model: participants learn from practitioners, work through a simulated enterprise deployment, and are assessed before earning credentials. Engineers begin with a multi-day in-person program and then take a 12-week residency leading a real Claude project at their own organization; those who pass earn the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge, with the first expected in early 2027. Cohorts are running in San Francisco, New York and London, and participation is by nomination.

Our take

Our take: The scarce resource in enterprise AI is no longer models but the people who can wire them into a business, and Anthropic is betting that credentialing that skill is worth nine figures. It is smart positioning, since the academy trains engineers inside customers and partners, which knits Anthropic deeper into their stacks. It is also a talent channel dressed as education: the syllabus runs through Anthropic's tools and its partners' pipelines, so the standard graduates meet is, by design, Anthropic's own.
