Alibaba introduced QwenWork E-Commerce, an AI productivity tool for online merchants, in invite-only beta in China. It lives inside QwenWork, the company's one-stop workplace agent platform, and is reached by switching to an 'E-Commerce Operations' mode. Alibaba says the tool applies agentic AI across the merchant workflow — planning, marketing, content creation and cross-platform advertising — and adds a dashboard that consolidates sales, inventory and ad-spend data from multiple platforms and stores, replacing separate logins and manual reports. It generates product, advertising and livestreaming plans from a merchant's targets and recent performance, updates progress daily and flags underperforming stores, and can batch-generate product images, demo visuals and ad copy, with AI spreadsheets to manage the assets. It integrates Alibaba and third-party tools including Business Advisor, Qianniu, Alimama Wanxiang Lab, Youzan, FastMoss and LinkFox. Alibaba cites a women's-footwear merchant who cut store-preparation time from 30 days to seven and launch costs from more than 10,000 yuan to a few hundred yuan in AI fees. QwenWork launched in August and drew more than 30 million users in its first month, over half of them enterprises, the company says.
Our takeOur take: The number that matters isn't the 30 million users — it's the merchant who says research, sampling and photography that cost five figures now cost a few hundred yuan. That is the real 'AI+' story in China: not smarter chat, but a small seller doing the work of a small team. Caveats: it is Alibaba's own case study, the beta is invite-only, and it bundles plenty of Alibaba's own tools.
