At NetworkX 2026 in Vienna on October 15, Huawei's 'AgenticCore' solution for next-generation core networks won the Leading Core Network Solution award. Huawei says AgenticCore is AI-native, fusing 5G-Advanced with AI in four areas: service intelligence through an AI Service Framework covering home broadband, voice, and mobile; network intelligence; operations intelligence via the CORESpirit autonomous-core solution, which combines specialised models, a skills library, and a telecom knowledge graph; and AI-native infrastructure through the TICC cloud platform that pools heterogeneous compute. Huawei argues the network's connected objects are expanding from people and things to AI agents, which it says requires task-level experience guarantees, compute-and-network coordination, and cross-ecosystem agent interconnection. It points to an Intent Interface and a Data & AI Plane (DAP) as the architecture's defining features, and frames the shift as AI moving from an add-on to a network-endogenous capability. (Vendor claim.)
Our takeThe real move here is redefining who the network serves. Huawei is betting carriers' next customers are agents - always-on, latency-sensitive, and indifferent to the icons that define today's mobile plans. An intent interface plus a data-and-AI plane is a coherent architecture pitch, but it is a standardisation bet: it pays off only if rivals adopt the same interfaces. Watch whether 3GPP and open-source core projects pick up DAP - not whether an awards jury liked the slides.
